Okay, three weeks! Without a doubt this feels GOOD! Last night was Mr. Dan and we worked on “compressing” during the reverse motion of our actions. Primarily this is moving to the next reference point in the anticipation of another strike or better put, in the process of completing a technique combination.
Hmmm… it was nice to touch (feel) something I haven’t in a while. Working the continuous reps on a body, I started to recognize the compression or what I have always referred to as the “coil.” I’ve always envisioned that a snake must feel the same thing when they coil ready for a strike. Hey, isn’t the snake one of the five original animals recognized by the Shoalin?
Focus… anyway, so working continuously on a body I could feel the attitude starting to come to the surface. Not sure if they recognized that as the class was progressing, I was getting more and more into my motions. As each progressive move of the combination flowed into the next, I could feel a “passion” (for lack of a better term) grow. Without a doubt is was both exhilarating and addicting. I know I could have continued on longer than we had time for.
Wow, this is great. I’m not sure if it as good for the other participants on Tuesdays as it is for me. I’m doing my best to stay in the student mode. Occasionally, I’ve thrown out my two cents and I hope it has been valuable. Also I’ve attempted to give my partners limited feedback as I have recognized things working with them more intimately. Yes, getting a stronger 2nd point of view has given me some deeper insights to little adjustments they may require. Additionally, it awesome to get some feedback from them on things they feel I might do better.
So here’s the next thing I hope to get finished up this month. Podcasts! I have got most of the infrastructure set up, just need to do some testing. My hopes are to put out at attitudefirst.com some 2-3 minute concepts and instructions to help you with your daily training. You are getting in your 5 minutes a day… Right? Well hopefully this will be a nice aid for that endeavor.
