Greetings SECS classmates!
Thought I should let you know my left knee arthroscopic surgery last Wednesday went well. I didn't see, feel or hear a thing. They wheeled me to the OR corridor. We were headed to room #6. On the journey there the anesthesia doc injected some meds in the shunt. I remember being very conscious as we passed OR #1-5. I remember absolutely nothing after that. My next memory was of waking up in recovery and sensing a tightness around my left leg. I was pretty fuzzy on just about everything from that point until later in the evening after we were home for some time.
Doc spoke to Gene and said he found some bone fragments floating around in there that appeared to be from a very old injury. The only injury I recall is falling directly on my knee on a marble step WAAAAY back when I was 19...and being 19 I did not get it tended to.
Presently, the worst of the pain is gone, but if I stand or sit at the computer for too long my entire leg starts to ache greatly. Still icing it and taking Ibuprofen. Thursday is my follow up with ortho and the next "fun" step…physical therapy.
Gene and Angelo have been excellent caretakers through all of this. I'm spoiled!
With each passing day, the pain is less. Right now, I feel like the Tin Man in serious need of his oilcan. It is really pretty comical. The leg is so incredibly stiff, almost how I think it would be to have a wooden leg.
I am not sure when I will be back, but hopefully it will not be too long.
Just in case I do not see you before then…Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
