| NEW UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS |
|
Okay in truth this really is Old Uniform requirements being revamped and “enforced,” with a little twist.
First identity and honor have been a little lacking. Now that we have really starting to become more established as a school, many members have expressed a need for “unity.”
Many, many years ago our “uniform” was just that, a uniform that showed you were an honored member of an important team or school. Members seem to be wanting that once again!!
I realize that the school tends to follow the instructor. In my attempt to “cleanse” from the past and look at new ideas and concepts, I moved away from some old traditions. This process can be both good and bad. Now in the spirit of constant refinement, my beliefs have come back full circle. I feel now it is time to set some standards.
First all members will be expected to have and wear their uniforms. (Note: The practice of wearing a school or single color t-shirt during 100 + temperatures will still be in allowed.) The center will adopt the following uniform policy. All students below the rank of Green belt will be expected to wear a RED uniform. Students Green belt and above will be allowed to wear a BLACK uniform. They can continue to wear RED if they choose.
Mentors (regardless of rank) when in the capacity of mentoring students in group or private classes will be expected to wear a BLACK uniform.
As students earn different awards and or attend different tournaments that award patches, we will wear these on the pant legs. Starting with the right leg and if filled we will add them to the left leg.
Unless they request new patches, students will be asked to have their current patches sewn on any new uniforms.
Now obviously a policy of this nature will take some time. If you already have a WHITE uniform, of course you may wear that. We are just asking that when getting a new uniform or earning the opportunity to wear a new uniform that you adopt the new requirements. What if you are not a Green belt and you have a BLACK uniform. That’s fine! Just need to get patches on them. Going forward one of three things will occur; One- Student joins the Mentoring Program. Two- Student earns GREEN belt. Three- When getting a new uniform it will be RED.
Over the next 2 or 3 months I would appreciate it if every student gets patches on your uniforms. Starting this week we will mostly stock RED uniforms. Will students be allowed to wear WHITE uniforms? Yes! Remember our true school colors are RED, BLACK and WHITE. Students at the community center will still wear WHITE uniforms. It is just that the Official AFTC uniform for students will be RED. Mentors and Sr. Ranks will wear BLACK. All students will wear proper uniform patches.
My belief is by Summer 2010, the uniform policy will be in full effect. Patches will be available in the next few weeks. Name patches should be available by November.
